London is better on foot.

Five little stops.
One very good London afternoon.

The best thing about walking in London? You never know what the next street has planned for you.

A little courtyard. A beautiful old building. A bookshop you didn't know you needed.

This walk starts in Covent Garden, passes through some of central London's most memorable streets, and ends beside the Thames. Along the way: coffee, books, grand architecture, and a river view worth slowing down for.

No complicated transfers. No frantic sightseeing. Just comfortable shoes, a little curiosity, and permission to take the long way.

Stop 01 · Covent Garden Piazza

Start with a little London theater.

Begin in Covent Garden, where the historic market building gives the neighborhood its unmistakable character.

People cross the piazza. Café tables invite you to sit. Street performers sometimes turn an ordinary afternoon into a little show.

Find somewhere to pause and watch the neighborhood move around you. There's no need to rush into your first stop.

London has officially begun.

Do thisSpend ten minutes enjoying the piazza before starting your walk.

Stop 02 · Neal's Yard

Find the courtyard hiding in plain sight.

A short walk brings you to Neal's Yard, a small courtyard tucked between the surrounding streets.

Colorful buildings, plants, and café tables make it feel like a little world of its own.

Look up at the painted façades. Notice the windows. Enjoy the sudden change of pace.

Sometimes the best part of a city is the place you almost walked past.

Do thisStep into the courtyard and take a moment to admire the colorful buildings.

Stop 03 · Cecil Court

Walk into a story.

Continue toward Cecil Court, a narrow pedestrian street known for its antiquarian bookshops.

Old books, prints, and historic shopfronts give the street a wonderfully nostalgic atmosphere.

Browse the windows. Look for an illustrated cover or an old map that catches your attention.

You don't need to buy anything. Sometimes discovering a book you didn't know existed is enough.

Do thisBrowse the bookshop windows and choose one title that makes you curious.

Stop 04 · Trafalgar Square

A little grandeur between the detours.

Keep walking toward Trafalgar Square, where the city suddenly opens into one of London's most recognizable public spaces.

Nelson's Column rises above the square. The National Gallery stands behind it. The fountains bring movement to the stone surroundings.

Find a place to pause and look around. After the narrow streets, the space feels wonderfully grand.

Not every memorable London moment needs to be small. Sometimes the city earns a little drama.

Stop 05 · Victoria Embankment Gardens

End where the city takes a breath.

Continue toward Victoria Embankment Gardens, a green space close to the Thames.

After the busy streets, the paths and trees offer a quieter moment in central London.

Find somewhere to sit. Then wander toward the river and watch the water move past the city.

You've walked through markets, courtyards, bookshops, and grand squares. Now London gives you something different: a little room to breathe.

Do thisPause in the gardens, then walk toward the Thames and enjoy the river view.

And there you have it.

Five stops. A handful of beautiful streets. One very good excuse to spend an afternoon walking through London.

You didn't conquer the city. You found a little piece of it that feels like yours.

That's better.

Keep this London walk in your pocket.

Save all five stops to My Bag and come back when you're ready to trade your plans for a London afternoon.

A little London to take home.
