Dear London,
Save me a little December.
Not the perfectly arranged, snow-covered version from the movies. The real one. The slightly damp one. The one where the sky turns gray and nobody seems particularly surprised.
The one where you pull your scarf tighter and disappear into a warm café. Where red buses roll past glowing windows and every little pub looks like a perfectly reasonable place to escape the cold.
Save me the sound of footsteps on wet pavements. The warmth of a cup of tea. The moment you step inside from the cold and suddenly understand why London does cozy so well.
Save me the little bookshops along Cecil Court. The quiet paths through St James's Park. The Thames on a gray afternoon, when the bridges and old buildings look like they belong in another century.
And the Christmas lights. Regent Street glowing overhead. Covent Garden dressed for the season. Not because everything needs to sparkle, but because London knows how to make a dark evening feel special.
Save me one long walk through Notting Hill. One scone I definitely didn't need. One quiet moment beside the river. And that strange, beautiful feeling of being somewhere far from home and somehow exactly where I want to be.
I don't need the perfect London. I don't need every palace, every museum, or every famous view. Just a few hours. A warm cup of tea. A street worth remembering.
So, dear London, keep a little December for me.
I'll bring the umbrella. You bring the feeling.
Love,Someone who still thinks about you when the streetlights come on.
